Grant Consulting Group Adds Former Chief Financial Services Regulator
Dr. Raymond Spudeck, Chief Economist for the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation (FLOIR) and top regulator in the international regulatory reform debate, is leaving his post at FLOIR and will be opening a consulting firm. His firm will be affiliated with Grant Consulting Group, LLC, a multi-client government relations firm with offices in Washington DC and Lansing, Michigan. His office will be located in Tallahassee, Florida. In addition to his role and responsibilities with FLOIR, Dr. Spudeck has been an active leader within the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) initiatives, and has been a key representative for US insurance in the global regulatory reform effort within the International Association of Insurance Supervisors (IAIS) and as one of the US insurance sector representatives at the Joint Forum. Dr. Spudeck has also served as a technical expert for the International Monetary Fund (IMF) on issues of regulatory standards compliance and catastrophe risk. In 2009, the NAIC awarded Dr. Spudeck their highest individual honor, The Robert Dineen Award, for being the nation’s top insurance regulator. A former university professor, Dr. Spudeck taught finance, economics and statistics at the masters and doctoral level. Dr. Spudeck earned his Ph.D. in Finance at Texas Tech University and his BBA in Finance from the University of Texas-El Paso.
